The Palace of Medieval Bishops of Lincoln was one of the most impressive buildings of the Middle Ages. The bishops were great princes of the Church and the palace reflected their power and influences. By the mid-16th century the palace was neglected as religious change swept through the Church in England and extensive damage was caused during the Civil War, after which the site fell into decay until the bishops returned to the site in the 19th century.
This guidebook provides visitors with a tour of the ruins as they can be seen today, and a history of those involved with the palace's story.
